 About Us Minimize

The Drywall/Lathers Union has recently joined forces with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America (UBC) to become a stronger voice in the workforce.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS

The UBC is one of the oldest and strongest of the labor unions. As an active member of the UBC, you and your family benefit from a strong, collective voice in the construction industry. There is strength in numbers, and as an active union member, you gain the ability to create a secure future. Through collective bargaining and contracts with employers, your interest is protected. This means top industry wages, excellent health benefits, ongoing training opportunities, a safe working environment, and, more importantly, dignity, respect, and job security.

STATE OF THE ART TRAINING

The age old saying that a company is only as good as its manpower is still a living fact. As a union member, you have access to comprehensive, state-of-the-art education and training programs that not only expand and improve your skills, but skills that also increase employment and job advancement opportunities throughout the career. Journeyman upgrade training programs and continuing education opportunities insures that as your career progresses you possess the skills necessary to keep pace with the latest building techniques. Other training opportunities include an extensive four-year apprenticeship program that provides excellent instruction and an educational environment that produces safe, qualified, responsible trade members who are prepared to lead in the construction industry. Simply stated, the best trained, most professional carpenter craftsmen belong to the Union.

A SECURE FUTURE

As a member of the UBC, you not only gain a voice on the job, in the economy, and in the political process, you are a valued member of a historically solid organization that is on the cutting edge of construction technology. The collective voice of union labor means greater job stability, top notch training, better pay, and better benefits. The UBC’s core values of fairness, hard work, and standing united have remained steady for over 100 years. If you are interested in raising your standard of living, having a strong voice in the workplace, and achieving your fullest potential, explore the advantages of being a member.

BENEFITS THAT PROTECT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

There is nothing more important than providing for the financial and medical protection of your family. Without a doubt, one of the greatest advantages of being a union member is better than average wages and benefit plans that protect the members and their families. Health and welfare plans provide health care, dental coverage, eye care, disability and related benefits. Life insurance, pension plans, and annuity saving plans all provide long-term security for members, their spouses, and their beneficiaries.

Another benefit of being a union member is the vacation plan. A set aside amount, based on hours worked, that union members can rely on once a year to use for vacation or unforeseen expenses. Members also have an opportunity to withdraw their vacation funds early in case of a financial hardship. Please see the Vacation Plan Summary Booklet for more details.
